In case you haven't seen their FB/IG posts – at the time of writing, their website still thinks it's happening – Bi Pride UK have just made public their difficult decision to cancel this year's Bi Pride.
It was scheduled to be on 31st August in London, but a lack of 'spoons' got in the way. May they come back soon.
Worried about missing out on going to a bisexual event this year?
BiCon 2025, a get-together of the bi+ community and friends that's been going since 1984, will be its usual mix of sessions, from the serious to the very silly, practical ones and talky ones, as well as space to just to chill out in a space where being attracted to more than one gender is the norm.
This year's BiCon is from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th July.
Want to attend in person? It's at the Nottingham Girls' High School this year.
Want to attend online? They'll be sessions on the Friday and Sunday, plus probably an online social space on the Saturday.
Tickets are on a sliding scale according to your resources, and we don't care whether you identify as bi (or pansexual or queer or..) so long as you behave. Trans inclusive for well over three decades: it's not up for debate.
Compared to Bi Pride..
.. BiCon is a multi-day event, not a single day. This year it will be over a long weekend, Friday to Sunday. You don't have to attend all of them: day tickets are available
.. it's more of a DIY event. At one, everyone who'd helped in some way was given a particular sticker for their name badge – by the end of the event, well over half of the attendees had been given one
.. there are far more discussions and practical sessions than 'four people on a panel' ones. Some are serious, some very much not so. There is usually space in the programme to add ones on the day (see that comment about it being a DIY event!)
.. there isn't a performance stage during the day, but there will be a Friday evening party
.. it's smaller in terms of numbers of attendees
.. most have been residential: you've been able to stay onsite. This year's won't be, because of cost reasons and it's not just the Bi Pride team who have limited organising 'spoons'
.. it doesn't have sponsorship, so it's not free. It's not expensive though, and there's a sliding scale for ticket prices.
