Getting there by public transport

Train

Nottingham station has direct trains to and from a wide range of places including London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, and Manchester. If Cross Country Trains gets its act together by July there will be direct trains from places like Cardiff again too – they're currently suspended because of their failures.

For journeys to and from Scotland and NE England, changing at Newark usually involves a walk of just under a mile to / from Newark Castle station, so you may find it easier to change at Grantham instead.

The station is run by East Midlands. Since October 2024, they have been trying to close the mid-platform bridge exits, including the shortest route to the tram stop, and make everyone go out through the main station concourse. This is the step-free route.

Tram

The city has a frequent and accessible tram service, with the High School stop being the nearest. Nottingham PLUSBUS tickets are accepted for travel on the tram system.

Shortest route from the tram stop: Arboretum Street is a little way down the hill. The school is at the other end of the road from the tram stop. Before you get to the correct place, you will pass an imposing set of school buildings labelled 'Nottingham High School' – that's not the right one! (It's the mixed gender school..

See the access page for a step-free route.

Bus

The city has an excellent bus system. Almost all buses go to the 'city loop' which goes around the centre. From there, the best stops are on Mansfield Road – the brown (16-18), green (56-59), yellow (68-71), and purple (86-88) 'lines' serve it, but don't all use the same stops.

Use your favourite maps or bus planning app or website for more details.

Taxi

Ask for the Girls' High School or Squire Performance Centre.

Getting there by car

There is a limited amount of general on-site parking on the Friday and Sunday – the entrance you want for that is this one. On the Saturday evening, we've been asked not to use that (there's a classical Indian music concert on at the Performance Centre).

On-street parking is available on the Sunday. On other days it is limited to an hour or less from 9am to 5pm, and we'll expect you to use it on the Saturday evening.

There are seven 'park and ride' schemes by tram stops.
